Azospirillum-plant relationships: environmental and physiological advances (1990-1996)
نویسندگان
چکیده
This review presents a critical and comprehensive analysis of the developments in environmental and physiological studies related to Azospirillum interactions with plants based on information published between 1990 and 1996. It was designed as an update of a previous review with a similar scope. Apart from an update, this review emphasizes the central issues of Azospirillum research today, such as coinoculation with other microorganisms and hormonal studies, shows the less researched areas, and proposes possible avenues for the exploitation of this bacterium in areas other than agriculture.

Azospirillum-plant relationships: physiological, molecular, agricultural, and environmental advances (1997-2003).
This review presents a critical and comprehensive documentation and analysis of the developments in agricultural, environmental, molecular, and physiological studies related to Azospirillum cells, and to Azospirillum interactions with plants, based solely on information published between 1997 and 2003. It was designed as an update of previous reviews (Bashan and Levanony 1990; Bashan and Holgui...
متن کاملPromotion of nod Gene Inducers and Nodulation in Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) Roots Inoculated with Azospirillum brasilense Cd.
Inoculation of Phaseolus vulgaris with Azospirillum brasilense Cd promoted root hair formation in seedling roots and significantly increased total and upper nodule numbers at different concentrations of Rhizobium inoculum. In experiments carried out in a hydroponic system, A. brasilense caused an increase in the secretion of nod gene-inducing flavonoids, as was observed by nod gene induction as...
متن کاملKey physiological properties contributing to rhizosphere adaptation and plant growth promotion abilities of Azospirillum brasilense.
Azospirillum brasilense is a plant growth promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR) that is being increasingly used in agriculture in a commercial scale. Recent research has elucidated key properties of A. brasilense that contribute to its ability to adapt to the rhizosphere habitat and to promote plant growth. They include synthesis of the auxin indole-3-acetic acid, nitric oxide, carotenoids, and a ran...
متن کاملEnhanced Growth of Wheat and Soybean Plants Inoculated with Azospirillum brasilense Is Not Necessarily Due to General Enhancement of Mineral Uptake.
The capacity of Azospirillum brasilense to enhance the accumulation of K, P, Ca, Mg, S, Na, Mn, Fe, B, Cu, and Zn in inoculated wheat and soybean plants was evaluated by using two different analytical methods with five A. brasilense strains originating from four distinct geographical regions. A Pseudomonas isolate from the rhizosphere of Zea mays seedlings was included as a control. All A. bras...
متن کاملInfluence of azospirillum strains on the nodulation of clovers by Rhizobium strains.
Mixed cultures of several Azospirillum and Rhizobium trifolii strains caused either an inhibition or stimulation of nodule formation on plant hosts as compared with nodulation of plants inoculated with R. trifolii alone. Azospirillum strains affected the nodulation process at a precise cell ratio (R. trifolii/Azospirillum cells) and time of inoculation. All Azospirillum strains used showed a va...
